March Meeting – art work unveiled
The meeting on March 23rd evening was well attended and there was an enthusiastic response to the first of the sculptures for the public art project.
There was a suitable celebration with a bottle of bubbly to mark this milestone in the effort to see the public art project come to fruition.
It is planned that there will be 5 sculptures made from the old jetty timbers. More funds will be needed to achieve this. Donations please to Jan Waterman, treasurer F.P.A.
A subgroup of Pat Kenrush, Jen Viol and John Wills, in consultation with C of A will devise a plan for placement of all 5 sculptures.
Full notes of the other matters from this meeting will be posted here soon.
The sculptures really will be a conversation starter and attraction on our beach – the timber from the Old Jetty just shines with texture, colour and history, and the weathering it will get will add interest too I am sure.
Thanks to John Wills, our local artiste – his work is really commendable, and best wishes to the committee meeting with City of Albany to determine the best locations and to prepare a sculptures location plan.
We very much look forward to follow up art pieces with more of our timber. Please remember to donate to this great cause – cheques to Frederickstown Progress Association c/- Jan Waterman PO Box 1033,
Yours in community spirit
