Can You Make It?

A message from Jane Mouritz:

Phoebe from the Albany Advertiser is going to do a story on MBG’s Future Forum this week. She has asked that some of us meet on the beach for a photo  on Monday afternoon at 3.00pm – please come along- meet at the gazebo near the Surf Clubrooms.
It is also a good opportunity to make final preparations for the Forum – and to organise the door-knock and other promotions.
See you there!

6pm, Thursday 6th January 2011, at the Middleton Beach Bowling Club.

Planning for what? Planning for a thriving Middleton Beach Precinct, with a unique and unified presence across public art and amenities, while at the same time preserving the things we love about this special place.

Landscape Architect Jen Viol has come up with some design concepts – improvements to the streetscape and new amenities.

And your ideas can become part of the vision.

But for the event to be a success, we need your help to  find some donations towards the planning forum.
We have received a generous personal donation of $5000.00 towards the style and design planning for MBG precinct – very exciting!

And Frederickstown Progress Association is assisting with venue hire and financial management – thank you!

But we need additional funds ($7000 or so) in order to get the best use of our landscape architect and the workshop,  enable a site analysis and a choice of designs to be prepared before-hand, and to cover post workshop summary that will give a a shared plan for future projects by City of Albany and others.
Please make donations to Frederickstown Progress Association PO  1033 ALBANY 6331, and also let Jane Mouritz know you are donating. Click here to send her an email.
If you can suggest a corporate donor then let Jane know so a written request can be sent.
Alternatively, if you are keener to contribute to the Public Arts Scultpures project, then that will also be gratefully received – send to FPA as above but specify ‘MBG Scultpures’. Kim Buttfield had a disappointing response to her preliminary application for funds, so we are going to have to be ‘creative’ to make progress there too……

A sight for sore eyes!

The next meeting of the Middleton Beach Group is coming up.

5pm, Sunday 3rd October at Hybla, 11 Flinders Parade Middleton Beach.

Come and join in with a friendly group committed to preserve all the good things about our iconic beach and to work together to make it even better .
We welcome any like minded folk who would like to contribute time and share  positive ideas.

• some exciting public art ideas using the timbers from the town jetty to share  and discuss
• an update on ABUG’S Cycle racks
• a report on MBG’s presentation to the City of Albany,
• Future Planning Forum
• and ideas from a meeting with Landcape Architect Jen Viol.

Bring a friend/s, a drink and nibbles to socialise.  And of course, your ideas!

The Albany Port Authority has kindly offered to host this meeting, and we will be joined by APA CEO Brad Williamson and Environmental Manager Paul Mackey, who will tell us all we need to know about the dredging in the Port.

We will also have the results of the Beach users survey, and “The fence”.
